Ilona Koroman has long been engaged in figurative painting. She is interested in the themes that appear in her selected paintings and has a continuous interest in depicting and recording the world around us. She believes that beauty and interesting subjects for painting can be found in the everyday and ordinary aspects of our surroundings. Through the artistic process, she strives to discover and portray aesthetic values that are often overlooked or neglected. Her works are a response to cities, people and their interactions, opening a new perspective on what is often considered ordinary. She does not emphasize the creation of original or exceptional form. Rather, her aim is to convey a faithful aesthetic experience of perceived reality, and she considers it important that her paintings are accessible and understandable to the ordinary viewer, that they somehow reach out and engage people. In essence, she is looking for timelessness, or a kind of painterly sincerity.
